Thank you for another wonderful year. The girls enjoyed performing in the recital and the classes with their wonderful teacher. Every year the recital gets better and better, the routines are fun and creative and the performer’s skills are crisp and more professional. The costumes are always beautiful. I appreciate the attitude of inclusion that your dance studio shows to all its students. It was my extreme pleasure to attend last night’s benefit- “Kids for Katrina”. Not only did my daughter and I enjoy the excellent dancing and singing-we witnessed God’s plan in action. I was in awe of their talent-but more so with their dedication to help others and to truly make a difference in these troubled times. I can’t even begin to tell you the impact you’ve had on my life. Thank You for the opportunity to be your photographer, as well as part of your dance family, for the past five years. Danceworks is a fun environment for all ages, and I found myself smiling a lot, no matter what age I was photographing!
Through my camera lens, my images captured the smiles and the perseverance needed to learn this art form. Allowing me into ballet and pointe classes, I learned how safety is a priority and that a student might be held back from learning pointe until they learn the proper form and are strengthened to prevent injuries. Students participating in The Moving Company learn valuable life lessons - importance of giving back to a community, discipline, and teamwork.
And the school is about more than just dance - recently, I had the opportunity to photograph Power Princess Camp. Every detail was considered - story time, music, crafts, learning different dance routines, all leading up to the end-of-week royal ballet showcase, complete with costumes! Kudos to “Miss Chris” for all her efforts and the tireless hours she puts into making this school a success!

How can I possibly thank you for everything you did for me growing up? ... Danceworks was a truly special place for me and I think about it all the time - the friendships, the experiences, and the lessons I learned from my fabulous teachers. I now teach at a high school and I truly believe that I am able to do so because I was given the opportunity to be a Student Teacher with you when I was in 5th grade, and I never stopped after that! ... When I heard it was your 25 year anniversary, I thought "There's no way that can be true!..." While the fact is slightly astonishing, it's also a huge testament to you when I think of how much I still remember about those early years and beyond. At the time, I don't think I realized what a talent you had. It wasn't just that you could teach dance, because many people can do that, but you had the (much rarer) ability to make young dancers feel wanted and important. ... I strongly believe it was your foundation and positivity that allowed me to see through the competitiveness and navigate my way through the industry. Because of the skills I established under your mentorship, I not only get to dance every single day of my life, but I also get to inspire and motivate other people to believe that the joys of dance are for them, too. ... Even though I only spent 12 years at Danceworks (and I'm mad at my mom for not enrolling me sooner!), I learned so much in those 12 years. Beyond having amazing instruction and learning the various techniques that prepared me for dance in college and beyond, I learned skills that I've been able to apply to the rest of my life. I've learned how to work with other people, how to manage my time taking all those classes and still keeping up with schoolwork and everything else, how to teach and instruct others, how to be responsible for my own mistakes and work to fix them, and how to take pride in my work. ...Thank you for everything you've done to make Danceworks what it is. You've created a space that not only fosters a love of dance, but created an environment where students love to come and hate to leave.
