The Moving Company

Students over the age of ten who are currently enrolled in Danceworks classes have the option of joining our Moving Company. The Moving Company provides dancers with extra performance opportunities at venues such as the Denville Open House, and a variety of other sites such as retirement communities, and rehabilitation centers.

The Moving Company was established at Danceworks in June of 2004 in order to provide students of dance who were interested in pursuing the art form at a more serious level with both an opportunity to improve their dance skills, and an experience that would parallel that of other junior dance troupes. More specifically, participants receive exposure to unique choreography, invaluable performance experience, and the values of teamwork.

A fundamental aspect of The Moving Company is performance, the aim of which is not only to buttress the growth and development of the dancers, but to spread the joy of dance to a variety of audiences throughout Morris County. With an extensive performance schedule averaging 8-10 out-of-house events per season, The Moving Company brings dance to audiences that span generations and social strata; performances have been given at YMCAs, nursing homes and retirement communities, public schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations.

Dear Chris,

A big thank you for Danceworks and The Moving Company! Your time, energy and dedication to dance classes and the company are so much appreciated! It is heartwarming and rewarding to watch so many of these young ladies excel in their dance performances. I have watched my daughter blossom from year to year in each of her classes…Thank you for all the opportunities to dance for the community through The Moving Company. I enjoy seeing the faces in the audience light up when they watch the girls dance. Your caring, nurturing and enthusiasm are the encouragement the girls need to keep on dancing! Thank you for all you do!
