Testimonials

Dear Chris,
A big thank you for Danceworks and the Moving Company! Your time, energy and dedication to dance classes and the company are so much appreciated! It is heartwarming and rewarding to watch so many of these young ladies excel in their dance performances. I have watched my daughter blossom from year to year in each of her classes…Thank you for all the opportunities to dance for the community through the Moving Company. I enjoy seeing the faces in the audience light up when they watch the girls dance. Your caring, nurturing and enthusiasm are the encouragement the girls need to keep on dancing! Thank you for all you do!

I am so beyond thankful for Danceworks and everyone associated. You all have no idea how much you mean to me and how much my life has become perfect because of all of you. You're all always there for me no matter what and I don't know what I'd do without all of you as my favorites. Miss Chris, Miss Lois, Miss Moira, Miss Bonnie, Miss Jill, you are all like second mothers to me and have shaped who I am today. I am so thankful for all you have done. Danceworks is the only place I feel completely myself and like I can accomplish my dreams. I owe it all to you guys. I love you so much!

Dear Miss Chris,
Thank you so much for running a great dance school! Danceworks has helped me in so many ways. Obviously it showed me that I love dancing. I learned that I love being on the stage. It has given me poise and stage presence. Danceworks gives me self confidence.

Dear Chris,
Thank you for another wonderful year. The girls enjoyed performing in the recital and the classes with their wonderful teacher. Every year the recital gets better and better, the routines are fun and creative and the performer’s skills are crisp and more professional. The costumes are always beautiful. I appreciate the attitude of inclusion that your dance studio shows to all its students. The staff, including the student teachers has been terrific with my daughters…Thank you again for your wonderful company and the opportunities it provides to all young women.

Dear Christine,
It was my extreme pleasure to attend last night’s benefit- “Kids for Katrina”. Not only did my daughter and I enjoy the excellent dancing and singing-we witnessed God’s plan in action. I was in awe of their talent-but more so with their dedication to help others and to truly make a difference in these troubled times. From the first photo to the last step, I applaud this entire volunteer effort. My heart was uplifted.

Dear Chris,
I can’t even begin to tell you the impact you’ve had on my life. You have been my mentor for 15 years, teaching me much more than just dancing, but lessons I will take with me to college and through life…This place has been my second home, not only because I have spent so much time here (which I have loved every minute of) but also because I have gained so much from the people I like to think of as my second family…

~A graduating senior

Dear Miss Chris and staff,
My husband and I are so very grateful that you allowed our daughter to be a student teacher. It afforded her a unique opportunity to lead and learn, especially during the first difficult year of middle school. Thank you again,

~The parents of a middle school aged dancer

Miss Chris,
I greatly appreciate all that you have done for me throughout the past many years. You have made a tremendous impact on my life and have helped me become the person I am today. I can’t believe that I’m going to college in the fall and I’ll definitely miss you and Danceworks so much and I’ll visit when I can. You have inspired me to succeed and do well.

Thank You for the opportunity to be your photographer, as well as part of your dance family, for the past five years. Danceworks is a fun environment for all ages, and I found myself smiling a lot, no matter what age I was photographing!

Through my camera lens, my images captured the smiles and the perseverance needed to learn this art form. Allowing me into ballet and pointe classes, I learned how safety is a priority and that a student might be held back from learning pointe until they learn the proper form and are strengthened to prevent injuries. Students participating in The Moving Company learn valuable life lessons - importance of giving back to a community, discipline, and teamwork.

And the school is about more than just dance - recently, I had the opportunity to photograph Power Princess Camp. Every detail was considered - story time, music, crafts, learning different dance routines, all leading up to the end-of-week royal ballet showcase, complete with costumes! Kudos to “Miss Chris” for all her efforts and the tireless hours she puts into making this school a success!

"Dear Miss Chris.

Thank you so much for creating a wonderful space for women and girls to build their confidence, strength, and grace. I loved dancing at Danceworks in a non-competitive environment, and I made some of my best friendships at Danceworks. You taught us so much more than dance. You empowered us to be leaders, and you nurtured our creativity. I'm so grateful to your hard work. I know it probably wasn't always easy, but please know that in this 25 years you have touched countless lives. The Moving Company also gave me my first taste of service, and loved getting to combine my love for dance with brightening peoples lives.

Thank you for all you've done! You and your entire family have developed strong women. While I don't dance formally anymore, I still rely on a foundation that you helped build in me. I cannot thank you enough!"

"Dear Miss Chris,

How can I possibly thank you for everything you did for me growing up? ...  Danceworks was a truly special place for me and I think about it all the time - the friendships, the experiences, and the lessons I learned from my fabulous teachers. I now teach at a high school and I truly believe that I am able to do so because I was given the opportunity to be a Student Teacher with you when I was in 5th grade, and I never stopped after that! ...  I wish I still lived in New Jersey so that I could still come to Danceworks and take the adult classes - maybe someday I'll be back! Thank you, truly, for all you have done for me and for the hundreds of students who have come through your school - when I think of the impact you made on me, one person, it's amazing to think about the giant impact you have had on so many young people who are learning and growing at your studio. Congratulation on 25 years, and all of my love to you and the Danceworks Family."

"Dear Miss Chris,

When I heard it was your 25 year anniversary, I thought "There's no way that can be true!..." While the fact is slightly astonishing, it's also a huge testament to you when I think of how much I still remember about those early years and beyond. At the time, I don't think I realized what a talent you had. It wasn't just that you could teach dance, because many people can do that, but you had the (much rarer) ability to make young dancers feel wanted and important. ... I strongly believe it was your foundation and positivity that allowed me to see through the competitiveness and navigate my way through the industry. Because of the skills I established under your mentorship, I not only get to dance every single day of my life, but I also get to inspire and motivate other people to believe that the joys of dance are for them, too. ... So, a big cheers to 25 years. I'm eternally grateful for the guidance and training you gave us, the laughs and fun we had, and most of all, the inspiration you gave me to pursue the thing I love to do the most in the world."

"Dear Miss Chris,

Wow! 25 years! Where to start? ...

You were my first significant dance teacher and so much more. You were a mentor, collaborator, and friend! You were at my house when I graduated from college and you were at my wedding 20 years after the first time we met! You drove to Red Bank to come and see me perform as a professional dancer! The Danceworks family you've created is always going to be a HUGE part of my life. You've been there for all of the milestones, and I'm so happy for you and Danceworks with this milestone of 25 years! Congrats!"

"Dear Miss Chris,

Even though I only spent 12 years at Danceworks (and I'm mad at my mom for not enrolling me sooner!), I learned so much in those 12 years. Beyond having amazing instruction and learning the various techniques that prepared me for dance in college and beyond, I learned skills that I've been able to apply to the rest of my life. I've learned how to work with other people, how to manage my time taking all those classes and still keeping up with schoolwork and everything else, how to teach and instruct others, how to be responsible for my own mistakes and work to fix them, and how to take pride in my work. ...Thank you for everything you've done to make Danceworks what it is. You've created a space that not only fosters a love of dance, but created an environment where students love to come and hate to leave. Thank you for your countless hours of teaching and planning...everything that you do to keep the studio running, and for still making time to get to know each of the students. Thank you for everything you have taught me and for believing in me from day one."

"Dear Miss Chris,

I can honestly say that you have been one of the greatest role models I have ever had. You are a strong, independent, driven woman with a heart of gold. ... Thank you for your spirit and passion. Thank you for sharing your time and energy with us. Thank you for helping me to find my way as a young woman.  ... I will always consider you a second mom and my greatest role model. ... Congratulations on 25 years of changing lives and sharing the love of dance! I look forward to being by your side to celebrate many more."
